I knew about the gospel, but it seemed boring to me. Competition was the only thing that seemed to engage me. I was obsessed with it. I wanted to win because I wanted to be seen as accomplished. But through tragedy, God showed me the true gospel, the captivating gospel. The glory of Christ revealed the shallow nature of my desires. Jesus gave me a consuming affection for himself, and by his grace I try to live for the fame of Jesus rather than my own. Now my identity is in Christ.
