Swimmers braved rough water conditions in an attempt to rescue two people trapped inside a sinking SUV. But sadly, they couldn't. Witnesses say the vehicle drove off of the jetty and into the bay before going underwater near the Gulf of Mexico. One of the rescuers broke a window in the back of the vehicle but the victims inside couldn't escape in time, despite the fact that several boats were close by. Police identified the fatalities as a father and daughter. An investigation has been launched into how their car got into the water.
