A Song of Praise on Your Lips

Today's Scripture

“Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever” - (2 Chronicles 20:21).

Thoughts for Today

In 2 Chronicles 20, Jehoshaphat and the nation of Israel had to make a defining decision. They were about to be attacked by two formidable enemies and, from where Israel stood, there did not appear to be a way of escape.

Jehoshaphat immediately declared a season of fasting and prayer. The entire nation gathered to seek help from the Lord. They prayed:

O Lord, God of our fathers, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you. ... For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you (2 Chronicles 20:6, 12).

Have you ever heard someone pray with power and determination to gain God’s attention? This is exactly what the nation of Israel did. They turned their hearts to God through prayer and praise. God is faithful. His answer came swiftly:

You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you. ... Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you (2 Chronicles 20:17).

The next morning, instead of marching into battle with bows drawn, Jehoshaphat and the nation of Israel marched forward with a song of praise on their lips. God confused their enemies to such a degree that the Israelites never had to fire one single arrow.

Satan hates to hear words of praise spoken to the Lord. He knows His defeat is sure each and every time we praise God. Are you praising God for His presence and power in your life?

Prayer: Our Loving Heavenly Father, it is not my power but Yours that grants me victory. You are greater than anything that could ever come against me. Thank You, Lord, for Your powerful love! Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen."

Have a Blessed Tuesday and God Bless you.
