Bending The Rules

Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. - Psalms 78:1.

Remember being young and having all those rules that your parents gave you to go by?  Nobody likes rules, but we knew they were there for our benefit. Now, I was afraid not to obey my parents rules. I guess they instilled in me the FEAR of not obeying and the consequences I would face, if I didn't. So, I lived my younger life - and today, as a matter of fact - not wanting to do something that my parents would disapprove of, or hear that I had done behind their backs.

Not all children or people, in general, will follow rules. I know some that couldn't wait to get out from under their Mom and Dad's eyes in order to do what they wanted. It never mattered to them, that, if they were caught, it would reflect on their Mom and Dad. Lots of them never gave the respect to their Mom and Dad that they deserved, anyway. So, what did breaking their rules matter?

Respect today seems to be the number one thing with which the younger generation has a problem. A young guy told me today that you had to 'gain his respect'  ..... not even parents just  deserved it.  I tried to explain that, in our culture, it was thought that you always respected the people older than you, and especially your Mom and Dad. And, I think about the police. Not all police are respectable, but that doesn't mean we disrespect them, for they are the law, and
we are to obey the law of the land. Therefore, you respect the job that they do.  You may not like the person, but you respect them and the job they do, just the same.

I believe the people that will bend the rules in one thing, will begin to bend the rules in other things. If you let the enemy have a small place to enter into your life, then he will eventually get a foothold. After that, he is in the door and it is hard to get rid of him.

Rules are for a reason. God made rules. He gave us the commandments to live by. And, if we break those rules, then, we have sinned against God. It's a fine line that we walk, as a Christian. Bending rules is not in that equation. There is a narrow path that we walk, by grace and His righteousness into the Promised Land of tomorrow. And, if we bend rules, then we are not living the life that God intended.

Prayer : Our Gracious Loving Heavenly Father, your Word is Truth. Help us to trust what your Word says. Teach us to ask the Holy Spirit for enlightenment in any area that we don't understand. Keep us from coming up with our own thoughts on a subject and not adhering to the commandments that you have given us. Keep us from all unrighteousness. We give you praise. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name
I Pray, Amen."

Have a Blessed Wednesday and God Bless you.
