Intimate Relationship with Jesus

Today's Scripture

“No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.” - John 15:15 NASB.

Thoughts for Today

To Thomas à Kempis, Jesus was not just a person from history or the founder of a religion. He was his Friend.

In his book, The Imitation of Christ, Kempis wrote about the intimate relationship he had developed with Jesus and how often he talked with the Lord. It was his burden that others enjoy the same relationship, realizing how wonderful it was to know Him personally and fellowship with Him intimately.

Kempis asked, “What can the world offer you, without Jesus? To be without Jesus is hell most grievous; to be with Jesus is to know the sweetness of Heaven.”

To Kempis, knowing Jesus was the greatest reward in life: “Whoever finds Jesus, finds a rich treasure, and a good above every good. He who loses Jesus loses much indeed; and more than the whole world. Poorest of all men is he who lives without Jesus, and richest of all is he who stands in favor with Jesus.”

In our time, many people talk about Jesus. Many have read about Him. But how many are experiencing an intimate relationship with Him? Few realize that Jesus actually wants to be their Friend and share a personal relationship that will transform their lives.

Today, ask yourself if Jesus is real to you. Do you think of Him merely as a person from history? Or is He your best Friend? How often do you talk with Him? How much time do you devote to your relationship with Him?

Learn what transformed the life of Thomas à Kempis. Spend time with Jesus. Read His words. Talk with Him. Listen to His voice. Seek His presence. Commit your needs to Him. Fellowship with Him. He loves you and wants to be your dearest Friend.

Prayer : Our Loving Heavenly Father,
Thank You that You came to die for my sins. I want to know You more intimately. Show me Your ways. I commit my life to You. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen."

Have a Blessed Thursday and God Bless you.
