This was the moment little Gavin heard his mother's voice for the first time after undergoing surgery for cochlear implants. Jennifer Arroyo says she and her son have been on a long journey. First, they had to figure out why Gavin was deaf and almost blind and why he was always getting sick. A genetic test showed he had a rare condition called USP9X. Since so little is known about the disease, rather than focus on what he can't do, this mom is always looking forward with hope.
