Not only is Beth Battista, Lyla's teacher, but she's also her kidney donor. Lyla, 5, is now recovering from the successful surgery. For nearly a year she was sick with a rare autoimmune disease which caused kidney failure. Doctors told her she needed a transplant. So her family launched a nationwide search to find a compatible donor. Lyla's preschool teacher Beth was a perfect fit.
