Delight in God’s Word - Wednesday's Dose - 30th August 2017

“How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night…in whatever he does, he prospers.” – Psalm 1:1-3 NASB.

Thoughts for Today

The Bible makes an amazing promise. There actually is a way to live in which we can prosper in whatever we do. This lifestyle begins as we delight in God’s Word, think about the Word, and are guided by its principles.

People all around us may seem to ride an emotional rollercoaster, battered by life’s ups and downs. Many feel like victims, as if they are pawns, with little control.

But the Bible reminds us that we all have choices. We make critical decisions every day about what we allow into our minds, who we listen to, what we read and watch, and what we believe.

As we choose to believe God’s Word, we will experience stability and fruitfulness, just like a firmly planted tree that yields fruit in its season (v. 3). God will pour His blessings into our lives.

However, if we want this prosperity, we must be careful about the places we go, the people we meet, and what we possess. Specifically, we must not “walk in the counsel of the wicked.” In fact, we are guaranteed blessing if we avoid this kind of counsel. In contrast, we are blessed as we fellowship with people who love God.

We also are warned about “scoffers.” These are people who mock God and ridicule anyone who follows Jesus. We must not imitate these kinds of people, even if they appear to be successful.

Today, think about the promises of this Psalm. Here you will find God’s plan for you. Remember: Living according to His principles will make you stable, fruitful, and prosperous.

Prayer : Our Loving Heavenly Father,
Give me discernment. Help me to make the right choices. I delight in Your Word and will live according to Your principles. Thank You for prospering me!. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen."

Have a Blessed Wednesday and God Bless you.
